Trust joins university’s Manufacturing Champions programme

Trust Electric Heating, a Garforth-based business which specialises in electric heating solutions, has been accepted into the University of Huddersfield-managed Manufacturing Champions programme.

The programme, which launched in September 2020 and runs until March 2023, is funded by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is aimed at manufacturing companies identified as having high growth potential.

The programme will engage with 75 businesses from Leeds City Region and offers matched funding projects, up to 60 hours mentoring from a team of industry experienced senior managers plus a conduit into expertise provided by the University and other sources.

The news comes after Trust Electric Heating recently announced it had received further funding from Innovate UK to help it continue the development and launch of a digital thermostat that will work remotely on its electrical radiator systems.

That latest round of funding will focus on the development of Trust’s ‘CAVE’ product, which has its focus on solving digital smart programming and increased energy savings for ‘Confined, Adults who are Vulnerable and Elderly’.

The web-based technology enables remote monitoring, diagnosis and control of electric heating systems, providing help and support for many who struggle with digital thermostat programming. This work is being driven via a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Huddersfield, and the research team led by Professor Rakesh Mishra.

Trust Electric’s Managing Director, Fiona Conor, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the University of Huddersfield on the Manufacturing Champions programme which is aimed squarely at the manufacturing sector and those businesses like ours that are committed to achieving high growth.

“Through their strategic support and our vision for smarter electric heating for everyone, especially those most vulnerable or less tech savvy, we are confident that our ambitious plans as a local employer and as a beacon of innovation and trust in the heating market will come to fruition all the sooner.”

David Sharp from the University of Huddersfield added: “The Manufacturing Champions Programme is glad to welcome Trust Electric Heating on board. The programme looks to work with businesses that have an innovative approach, that are looking to embrace technology and that have the ability to grow. The purpose of the programme is to help accelerate that growth and to bring jobs and prosperity to the Leeds City Region.

“Trust Electric Heating is a great example of a business that meets the criteria of the programme with their innovative approach to electric heating and their use of technology in their CAVE system, coupled with their clear vision and ambition to grow.”
