When you hear about a electric radiator that offers “40% more heat” and “reduced heat loss,” it’s natural to raise an eyebrow. After all, isn’t a radiator supposed to lose heat? That’s precisely what many of our customers initially think, and it’s a valid question. The answer, however, isn’t as straight ford as a yes, so let us explain for you exactly where you should be losing your heat, and how the NEOS gives you 40% MORE heat.
Yes, radiators are indeed designed to lose heat – but the critical question is: where should that heat go? In an ideal world, all the heat generated by your heating system would flow directly into your living space, warming you and your loved ones. Unfortunately, traditional heating methods and even some electric heating falls short of this ideal, often in ways that might surprise you.
Here’s a startling fact that most homeowners aren’t aware of: with conventional electric heaters and traditional heating systems, up to 40% of the heat generated is lost to the back wall. That’s nearly half of the energy you’re paying for, essentially heating the structure of your home rather than your room. This inefficiency isn’t just a waste of energy – it’s a waste of your hard-earned money and a missed opportunity for warmth.
So when designing the NEOS, we decided that we needed to find a way to reduce this heat loss. That’s where our Cool Wall Technology comes in - we promise it’s not as complicated as it sounds.
At its core, Cool Wall technology is about reducing cold spots and increasing the heat in your room. Instead of allowing valuable heat to escape into your walls, our system actively redirects it back into your living space. This isn’t just marketing speak – it’s a measurable, tangible difference that transforms the efficiency of home heating.
Here’s how it works: The NEOS Electric Radiator is designed with a different back panel to the back (the dimpled one above). As warm air rises within the radiator, it flows around these dimples, meaning it’s in contact with the soapstone core for longer, which also means the air is HOTTER. But these dimples don’t go all the way to the top of the back panel, this is designed to push the air into your room, this avoids the 40% of heat loss to the back wall. So why do the dimples have holes in? These holes actually draw in latent cold air from the back wall to heat up and convect into your room.
Our Cool Wall Technology is actually only 2 points out of out 4 point convection process which works together to provide maximum heat transfer and a faster warm-up rate.
When we say “40% more heat,” we’re not claiming to violate the laws of thermodynamics. Instead, we’re talking about usable heat – the warmth that actually makes a difference in your home’s comfort level. By recapturing the heat that would otherwise be lost to the back wall, the NEOS Electric Radiator effectively increases the amount of heat delivered into your living space by up to 40% compared to traditional heating methods.
So we’ve mentioned ‘Quadvex Convection’, but what is is? In a nutshell, Quadvex Technology DOUBLES the amount of convection which in turn DOUBLES the amount of heat produced. So where a standard radiator has 1-2 points of convection, the NEOS has 4! Let’s break these points down.
The patented dimpled back panel forces the air to RISE in a snake-like movement. This means the air has to travel a longer distance, so it’s in contact with the soapstone core for longer, which produces warmer air.
Benefits
- NO heat loss to the back wall
- All heat created released into the room
- 40% more heat
You may have added that the front of the NEOS also looks slightly different. By adding a front panel to the flutes, we have doubled the amount of flutes and convection.
Benefits
- DOUBLED amount of flutes
- Quicker warm-up rate
- 2x Convection
We added small holes at the tip of each dimple to create individual venturis. These venturis draw the latent cold air from the rear wall into the radiator.
Benefits
- Increased warm air
- Maximum use of convection process
- Warmer room not back wall
The benefits of this innovative approach extend far beyond just improved heating efficiency. Let’s explore some of the wider implications:
In an era where energy conservation is more critical than ever, the NEOS Electric Radiator utilises a soapstone core which stores heat. This heat in then released into the room for up to 30 mins without using electricity - did someone say FREE HEAT? By utilising heat more efficiently, it reduces overall energy consumption, leading to a lower carbon footprint for your home. This isn’t just good for your wallet – it’s a tangible way to contribute to UK’s Net Zero goals to combat climate change.
And what’s better is the even distribution of heat provided by Quadvex Technology. This means fewer cold spots in your rooms, reducing the need for supplementary heating in colder months, which is an extra cost nobody wants to take on. This means, no matter how far away you’re sat from your NEOS Electric Radiator, you will be warm!
When you think electric heating, you may think of those little panel heaters in your local shops, this is not the NEOS - so we may look more expensive at first. However, one thing we are proud of at Trust Electric Heating is our pricing transparency, no matter where you are in the country, the type of your house, or the heating engineer, the price remains the same.
And while the initial investment might seem high, the long term savings make up for it. We’ve run some tests with the University of Huddersfield through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership to prove this, and even better, we’ve compare the NEOS’ running cost and whole life cost to other electric heating systems.
We know that when it comes to heating, it’s definitely not one size fits all. That’s why we have 3 different models of the NEOS - standard, junior and vertical to fit every space, and these all come in different kW outputs to heat your space effectively. Not sure what kW output your room requires? Book a FREE heating survey with one of out heating engineers and we’ll do the maths for you!
The NEOS Electric Radiator with Quadvex Technology represents more than just a product – it’s a glimpse into the future of home heating. As we continue to face challenges related to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, innovations like this will play an increasingly crucial role.
We’re not resting on our laurels, either. Our research and development team is constantly exploring new ways to push the boundaries of heating technology. From smart home integration to even more advanced materials science, the next generation of NEOS radiators promises to be even more efficient and user-friendly.
When we say the NEOS Electric Radiator offers “40% more heat” and “reduced heat loss,” we’re not just making empty promises. We’re addressing the long-standing issue of heat loss to back walls, we’ve created a heating solution that’s more efficient, more effective, and more aligned with the needs of modern homeowners.
In a world where energy usage is increasingly crucial, and home comfort remains a top priority, the NEOS Electric Radiator stands as a testament to what’s possible when innovative thinking meets British engineering. It’s not just about staying warm – it’s about doing so in a way that’s smarter, more efficient, and better for both your home and the planet.
