How Village Halls Can 'Go Green' With Their Heating This Village Halls Week

This ‘Village Halls Week’, ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) are inspiring village halls across the country to ‘go green’ in a push towards Net Zero. This annual celebration shines a light on the role village halls play in rural communities, providing social activities, community services, and local celebrations for their local communities.

This year’s theme for Village Halls Week is one we find particularly exciting at Trust Electric Heating, ACRE are pushing village halls to ‘go green’ by examining how their building can be made more energy efficient, and how management committees can support sustainable and environmentally friendly behaviors within their community. By focusing on ‘going green’, ACRE are highlighting the importance of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and sustainable practices in rural village halls, all which align with our values at Trust.

For village halls looking to take part, ACRE have published plenty of free online resources, allowing with a ‘Net Zero Design Guide for Village and Community Halls’ in collaboration with stagg architects. It’s important to note that while many rural village halls are already off grid, a lot date back over 100 years so energy efficiency wasn’t a huge factor in their design plans. So from simple steps like switching to LED lighting, improving insulation, and investing in renewable energy sources, their guide provides guidance on both big and little steps that village halls can do to make a green difference.

So why are we talking about Village Halls Week? At Trust Electric Heating, our passion goes beyond supplying homes with an energy efficient heating solution. Our drive toward sustainability and achieving Net Zero is at the core of our values. So it’s inspiring for us to see organisations like ACRE pushing for Net Zero within their industries, especially with events like Village Halls Week.

What can we do to help village halls ‘go green’? We’ve designed the NEOS electric radiator with sustainability in mind, making it a perfect fit for village halls that are in need of a sustainable heating upgrade. The NEOS combines soapstone’s heat-retaining properties with advanced Quadvex technology for efficient heat distribution and reduced energy use. This not only cuts running costs but also helps village halls lower their carbon footprint.

We’ve worked with numerous churches and village halls to elevate their energy efficiency by replacing outdated heating systems with the NEOS. This initiative has transformed how community spaces approach sustainability and cost savings. For detailed insights into how the NEOS can benefit your village hall or church, and to discover stories from those we’ve successfully partnered with, click here.

We’re hoping that this year’s Village Halls week has not only been a celebration but a call to action, urging community and village halls to lead by example and kickstart the journey towards a greener future. By participating in this initiative and exploring innovation solutions like the NEOS, village halls can demonstrate the power of community in driving positive environmental change.
