Making ‘Smart’ connections – British Science Week 2023

This year’s British Science Week has the theme of ‘connections’, particularly how the connections between people facilitate innovations in STEM.  With this in mind, we are celebrating our connection with the University of Huddersfield’s ‘smart house’ research facility, and how our work together enables innovation and change within the world of heating and smart living.

The Huddersfield Smart House Research Facility is a collaborative centre that is used to research and develop smart products and services. We first partnered with Huddersfield University in 2019 as part of a knowledge transfer programme (KTP), and we are now embarking on the next phase of our work together to develop exciting smart tech.

Innovation is at the forefront for Trust and we feel it is vital that our systems are tested rigorously and backed by independent science. By installing and monitoring our radiators in the smart house, we can thoroughly analyse and advance our products to meet our smart goals – with the help of some very clever scientists, of course!  The partnership provides students and researchers at the University of Huddersfield with valuable industry experience and the opportunity to make real-world contributions to the field of electric heating.

The partnership is part of our mission to stay at the forefront of technological advancements that improve the efficiency and performance our products, with our customers and the wider heating industry in mind.
