A Toast to Ten Years: Reflecting on Our Journey in Electric Heating

As I sit here in our newly expanded and refurbished office, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey of the past 10 years at Trust Electric Heating. It fills me with immense pride and a whole lot of gratitude. It’s amazing to think about how it all started—from those early days around our dining room table with just a big idea to make heating smarter, more energy-efficient and customer friendly. Now, look at us—recognised as the UK’s most awarded electric heating company. This journey has not been an easy one; we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, learned some hard and some easy but invaluable lessons, and put in heaps of hard work to turn our vision into reality.

Back in the day, it was just the two of us, one van, and one vision that kept us going. We were once known as the Northern Heating Company, starting out by importing and selling German electric radiators up north. Every step, from those first sales to developing our own heating solution; the NEOS, was driven by our mission to deliver reliable, top-notch, sustainable heating solutions.

This mission has really shaped every decision and innovation. Right from the get-go, we aimed not just to meet, but to exceed our customers’ expectations. This approach meant offering not only high-quality products but also making sure they were sustainable and eco-friendly. Launching NEOS was a huge milestone for us—it showcased our commitment to blending cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices. The NEOS, with its soapstone core and Quadvex technology, isn’t just another electric radiator; it marked a significant step in our quest to redefine electric heating.

Our journey didn’t stop at product development; it’s also been about pushing the envelope with our technology. Our partnership through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Huddersfield has been crucial. It’s deepened our research and development efforts, leading to several groundbreaking projects that have significantly advanced our product portfolio.

We’ve also focused on enhancing energy efficiency for specific customer groups with the introduction of the Student Specific Bluetooth Thermostat, allowing us to partner with multiple universities across the UK delivering efficient and sustainable heating. This device allows for precise control and monitoring, designed specifically to reduce energy wastage in student accommodations.

And there’s more; we’ve taken significant strides in sustainability with the launch of the ZEBRA Solution, an initiative aimed at providing UK homeowners with renewable energy sources, setting them on a path to complete energy independence.

Recently, we played a key role in the “Let Zero” project, an exciting initiative that’s all about transforming the Private Rental Sector in South Yorkshire. Thanks to a generous £2.4 million grant from Innovate UK, we’re pushing the envelope on sustainability and enhancing living standards. It’s projects like these that really get us excited about the potential to make a difference in achieving net zero targets!

Following this, our journey took us right into the corridors of power. We had a fantastic opportunity to chat with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero at Whitehall. This was a vital meeting aimed at pushing for policy updates that truly recognise the capabilities of modern electric heating solutions. It’s a significant part of our commitment to not just offer top-tier products but also ensure that the regulatory frameworks support sustainable progress.

And there’s more on the horizon. We’ve recently been invited to be a guest of the Lords at the Palace of Westminster to delve deeper into discussions about the UK’s journey towards net zero emissions. It’s quite something to see how far our ideas can go, and these kinds of engagements really highlight our commitment to being at the forefront of environmental change.

Looking ahead, our story is far from over. We’re more committed than ever to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in electric heating, driving forward with new innovations, expanding our reach, and continuing to deliver exceptional, environmentally responsible solutions. As we celebrate this major milestone, we’re also marking our 10th birthday with our biggest sale to date and treating one lucky customer to a free holiday to Spain—not just to commemorate a decade of success but to thank our customers and community for their continued support. It’s been an amazing ride, and as the UK’s most awarded electric heating company, we’re buzzing with excitement about what the next decade will bring.
