How long does the NOES electric radiator take to warm up?
Due to the soapstone core our radiators take only 6 minutes to start convecting heat into your room, however to reach the desired temperature will depend on a few factors:
As long as you have the right size of radiator then the room should warm up rapidly.

Can you stay on an economy 7 tariff with the NEOS electric radiator?
No, it’s not recommended. NEOS radiators are direct-acting heaters, providing heat instantly when needed, unlike night storage heaters that rely on charging overnight. Economy 7 tariffs are designed for night-time charging, so staying on this tariff could lead to higher costs during the day. We recommend switching to a standard tariff for the most efficient and cost-effective use.

We predict that the NEOS electric radiator can lead to savings on electricity bills, depending on the heating system previously installed, drafts, insulation, and energy providers. We have found during a 24-hour test with the University of Huddersfield that the 1.2kW NEOS radiator compared to a panel heater only uses 12.20kW of energy, whereas the 1.2kW panel heater used 30.09kW of energy to maintain the room at 20 degrees. This difference in energy used can have significant savings on heating bills, which is extremely important to consider when buying heating for your home.

We say our radiators use 2.4 hours’ worth of electricity in 6 hours. This means the NEOS is on for 1 hour for the first hour to get the radiator to the desired temperature - and then the NEOS is on for around 17 - 30 minutes for each hour for 5 hours after that initial 1 hour.

Running costs are entirely dependent on the way you use your heating, and they can be affected by an array of different things:
Insulation
Glazing
Energy Tarriff
No.doors open/closed
How you operate your radiators
KW needed to heat the space
When customers ask how much our radiators will cost them to run, it is very hard to estimate. However, we can give you the formula so you can try and work it out yourself:
KW of radiator x DURATION OF TIME radiator is using electricity xKW/PH (your energy tariff) = cost pkwph

How expensive is electric heating in the UK?
The cost of electric heating in the UK varies, but on average, electricity costs around 30p per kWh (kilowatt-hour) as of 2024. While electric heating can be more expensive per unit than gas, modern electric radiators like our NEOS electric radiator are designed for maximum energy efficiency. With advanced features that reduce energy consumption, they help lower running costs. The actual cost depends on your home’s size, insulation, and electricity tariff, but with the right system, electric heating can still be affordable and efficient.
