Trust Electric Heating Shortlisted for Innovation of the Year at the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2025

Trust Electric Heating has been shortlisted for Innovation of the Year at the 2025 Unlock Net Zero Awards, recognising the development of two groundbreaking thermostats – the Proxystat and Protostat – designed to reduce energy waste while improving accessibility for users.

The Unlock Net Zero Awards celebrate excellence in climate-conscious innovation across the built environment, highlighting organisations that are accelerating the transition to a net zero future.

The Proxystat thermostat uses Bluetooth proximity technology to activate heating only when a room is occupied, significantly cutting energy use in spaces such as student accommodation. Its successful rollout at the University of Leeds led to major carbon savings across 390 rooms during term breaks and holidays.

The Protostat thermostat, developed for domestic use, combines energy efficiency with ease of use. Featuring large tactile buttons, a backlit display, and a simplified up-down tick system, it offers an intuitive interface for elderly users or those less confident with technology.

Both thermostats are customisable, locally manufactured in Leeds, and contribute to sustainable heating through reduced energy consumption, extended product lifespans, and inclusive design.
